Coop is Norway's second-largest umbrella chain in the grocery sector, operating approximately 1300 grocery stores under six chain concepts: Obs, Extra, Coop Prix, Coop Mega, Coop Marked, and Matkroken. It also runs several large building supply stores, Obs Bygg and Coop Byggmix, along with cafes and specialty trade profiles. Owned by its customers through their membership in one of Norway's 57 cooperatives, Coop has over 2 million members. The cooperatives are organized under the common organization Coop Norge SA, which they own and which administers and operates all common tasks for the combined business.
